Dear all
I’m a researcher at the MIT-PORTUGAL program, in a project that aims to develop “New technological solutions for smart cardiovascular medical devices”.
Right now, I’m studying the mechanical properties of PET grafts (this is a stent graft for the AAA repair). To do this I downloaded the TexGen to model the geometry of the unit cell that constitutes the PET graft, and I did this in the Wizard command. Then I exported the geometry made to Abaqus by choosing ‘Abaqus dry fibre file’ option.
In Abaqus I was able to run a static simulation, getting good results, but in other hand I’m with serious difficulties to run a dynamic simulation.
I want to ask if there is some literature that helps to overcome and understand problems that arise in Abaqus when we conduct studies in geometries made in TexGen.There is?
Thanks
Lígia

Re: Interaction between Texgen and Abaqus
Hi Ligia,
Welcome to the forum. Your work sounds very interesting.
There isn't any literature as such about dynamic simulations but hopefully I can give you a few pointers which will help.
The file produced by the dry fibre export uses Abaqus/Explicit. If you look int the .inp file you will see a *Dynamic, Explicit command. The following line gives a time period for the step. You will need to set this to an appropriate value for your application. There is also a ramp defined with the *Amplitude command. Again you will need to set this to suit your application.
The *damping command is set to a very high value to, in effect, mask dynamic effects. Again this will need changing/removing.
The Abaqus reference manual should give you details on how to set up your dynamic simulation.
Hope that helps,
Louise
