Overlapping Tows
I have recently started experimenting some with TexGen and am running into a issues with overlapping tows when generating models of 3D textile composites. Also, I notice that in other models there is often a gap between tows. Does TexGen have any built-in functionality for dealing with geometric incompatibilities or can this only be accomplished by carefully defining the textile geometry?

Hi Ross, welcome to the forum. Ok, well the 2d weave generator has some functionality in there to generate pretty accurate geometrical models based on some experimental observations. The same is not true for the 3d weaves yet because this is a much more difficult issue. There are a number of factors that can affect the geometry, e.g. tension in the yarns during weaving, bending rigidity of the yarns, etc... So for a given weave pattern there are a number of different geometries that could be obtained based on these parameters.
I am currently looking into this issue and am developing some algorithms that will take some of these parameters into consideration when generating the geometry with some reasonable default parameters that will give you one possible solution when you are not too bothered about the exact geometry.
For the time being, you can create accurate geometry by specifying the yarn's geometry yourself. This can be done either with the in-built editor or a python script.
