Using stiff yarns to model elliptical yarn paths

Post by bollycanuk »

I'm using TexGen to try to model fabrics woven with polyester monofilaments with diameters in the 0.10 to 0.45mm range. These yarns are relatively stiff and as such can form out of plane paths that have an semi-elliptical shape.

Is there a way to add "stiffness" or tension to the yarns so that the geometry modeller doesn't force all the yarns to touch one another?

Best regards,
Derek

P.S> A fantastic piece of software!

TexGen at it's core doesn't model mechanics. It has started out as a purely geometrical software, so no you can't add stiffness or tension. But rather you can specify the cross-sectional shape of the yarns which can vary as you want along the length.
