Mesh periodic yarns and trim to domain without end caps

Post by Eric1 »

Hello everybody,

I have a question regarding Texgen surface meshing and I would be grateful if someone could help me.

I have several yarns interlaced and whose geometry are defined periodically (with AddRepeat function) in 3 dimensions.

I would like to get the surface mesh for all these yarns and I found severals possibilities:
- Yarn.AddSurfaceToMesh(CMesh, False) : this meshes thes yarns without ends caps i.e. no cross section is meshed, and this is what I want, thanks to the False option. But the meshes I get are neither periodic nor trimed to domain.
- Yarn.AddSurfaceToMesh(CMesh, CDomain): I get periodic meshes trimed to domain, what is very good, but with end caps! First and final cross sections along yarns path are meshed and I don't want this to happen.

So my problem is that either it delete end caps but does not trim periodic mesh to domain or it trims the mesh to domain but keeps end caps.

Is there a way to mesh periodic yarns without end caps and to trim mesh to Domain ?

Otherwise I try to delete manually de element created for endcaps withYarn.PointInsideYarn() function. Can anyone explain me how to make this function work to know if a node of the surface mesh is inside a yarn (namely on a cross section mesh) or not?

I wish someone could help me !
Thank you in advance for your answer,

Eric.
