Dear staff,
in the course of trying to generate a "distance fabric" i came up with some problems regarding TexGen.
First of all i would like to know if it's possible to generate binder yarns which are quite long compared to the other geometry measurements (length: 200 mm) and if it was possible to edit the exact length.
Then, while importing the TexGen *.stp-File or *.igs-File to Abaqus the binder yarn is not diplayed in its appropriate size.
At last, i would like to know if setting up a heat transfer analysis with the generated geometry would cause any problems if having changed the C3D8/R elements to D-elements in the input File. Have there any experiences been made so far?
Thank you very much for your help in advance!
Kind regards,
Alim

Hi Alim,
You can create yarns with any length you like. How to edit yarns/nodes can be found in the User Guide on the web page here: http://texgen.sourceforge.net/index.php ... #Add_Yarns Make sure that you have the Controls window open and then the Modeller option will give you edit boxes for editing exact positions of selected node. Alternatively you can use a script to create your yarns and specify your node positions.
You would need to send me a tg3 file of your textile for me to comment on problems with the .stp or .igs export.
I don't have any experience of using the geometries for heat transfer analysis. If the shapes of the elements are appropriate then I guess you could change the element type in the .inp file.
Best regards,
Louise
