Hi,
I was wondering if anyone faced a problem when the width of the yarns in one set changes when you put in the required spacing, thickness and thickness for the other yarns. Please see the attachment, I printed screen for the model I am getting.
I am trying to model a 0.8 cm cotton fabric with different spacing for warp and weft yarns and different width. However when I put my structural data in the width of the other yarn set is changed to very small one. I read many publication about TexGen I don't recall any limitation problem to model any structure.
I am still working on it but still no success. Does any one have an idea what might be wrong?
Here is the data if you wish to try to make it on your TexGen

I am sorry, it doesn't seem that the uploading process is working ... Here is a link to the image

Hi,
Afraid that access is denied on that page.
You should be able to upload an image in a standard file format. You can't upload executables but you should be able to insert code snippets.

Re: Structure Problem
Hi,
Are you using the refine option in the 2D wizard? The first step in the refine process is to adjust widths of the yarns to avoid interpenetrations at the sides. It looks like, because there is a significant amount of crimp in your textile this may be being adjusted.
Try creating the textile without the refine and then you will be able to see if your yarn data is being entered correctly. You will then be able to see where the intersections occur and it may make it more apparent what the refine is doing. If the refine isn't working appropriately for your textile then it may be necessary to create it without the refine option and then adjust the yarns manually to remove the intersections.
Hope that helps,
Louise

Re: Structure Problem
I cancelled the refine and yes the width is okay and the yarns are intersect. Is there any other way to cancel the intersection other than doing it manually?
Re: Structure Problem
Hi,
If the intersections are small then you can use the intersection correction in the Abaqus dry fibre export option. Select both the correct intersections and regenerate mesh options. This will only work if the intersections are less than one element of the volume mesh deep.
Failing that, if the refine in the wizard doesn't give satisfactory results, I'm afraid that you'll have to do it manually.
Best regards,
Louise

Re: Structure Problem
Okay ... Will try that ...
Many thanks
