Hi Louise,
I want to discuss the steps that we follow during the FEA of simple weaves:
i) First we create weave
ii) Assign yarn properties (In the properties, it does not ask the elastic modulus, poisson ratio etc) Do we need to enter this information? If yes, then where?
iii) Matrix properties (If we want to do analysis of dry fabric then matrix would be all zero, right?)
iv) Export the geometry with right mesh
V) Where we apply BC. Like, if I want to do tensile test of fabric in Abaqus. I will apply BC in Abaqus not in Texgen, right?
Vi) Once I have defined my material in Texgen, do I need to apply material again in Abaqus or not?
Thanks,
Khizar

Re: FEA of Simple Weaves
Hi Khizar,
Yarn properties are assigned as described in the User Guide here: http://texgen.sourceforge.net/index.php ... Properties Young's modulus etc are assigned as properties of the yarns not the whole textile.
For a dry fabric the matrix properties, if assigned, are not used.
If you export a voxel or tetrahedral mesh then this can be exported with boundary conditions as described in the tutorial. This will allow you to extract material properties. If you want to apply different boundary conditions you can either change them in the .inp file or within Abaqus.
If you define properties in TexGen they are included in the .inp file and will be exported to Abaqus.
Hope that helps,
Louise
