Hello Martin,

Firstly I would just like to thank you for your help over the past few weeks, the Texgen version you supplied me with works and just this afternoon ther i managed to import my a model so happy days! The import format is a sort of space frame representation so i am presuming i will have to some how rebuild it. I tried both the IGES and Step formats and both are the same.

One other thing i notice, just when i opened prevous models in the new texgen version is that the twist problem in relation to defining the Vectors resets itself, so im presuming i need to re-modify the .txg coordinates again?

Thanks,

Charles

Thats good news. I'm not sure what you mean by space frame representation. It may be that the CAD package your are using displays files imported as Wireframe by default. So you won't see the actual volumes displayed unless you change the display type. The exported iges and step formats should both contain the volumes of the yarns and the domain. See Robert's thread for information about why the matrix volume doesn't contain holes.

About importing TexGen v2 files into TexGen3: I must admit that the import code I wrote was a bit of a quick hack. A lot of the information from the TexGen v2 files is ignored including the Up vectors which are responsible for avoiding the twist problem. Basically the import TexGen v2 only works for yarns that have constant cross section and don't have modified up vectors. I didn't think that many people who have created models in TexGen v2 would have used the more advanced features. But clearly you have. When I have the time I will extend the import code to deal with these features.

In the mean time I suggest you have a look at how to create models using Python scripts. There are a few examples included with TexGen v3 and some help at:
