Multi-layer woven tube samples

Post by jhchoi »

Hi, y'all! Really appreciate y'all for developing and sharing this amazing program.

I'm trying to do a FEA in Ansys for multi-layered woven tube but I couldn't find a sample script to generate a meso-scale tube cell. Could you provide a sample script or a guideline for it?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Joon,

Welcome to the forum. I don't think I'll be able to give you a sample script which does exactly what you're after but if you could provide a bit more detail of the kind of thing you're trying to model then I might be able to point you at something that would get you started.

Best regards,
Louise

Louise,
Thank you for the response.
I'm trying to do a sensitivity study on composite architectures such as weave angle, number of layers, and thickness of interface. I have geometrical requirements including tube outer diameter and overall thickness of the tube under various thermal/pressure boundary conditions.
Thank you,
Joon

Hi Joon,

I don't think that we have any scripts for tubular textiles. I think that you would probably need to start off modelling the flat textile for the appropriate weave pattern and then look at how the nodes need to be offset in order to form a tube. If you can be more specific about the weave pattern then I might be able to help with a script to help get you started on the flat textile.

Best regard,
Louise
