Hey,
I am not able to export a Iges or a step file from Texgen. I have found similar problems form other uses, but that was couple of years ago.
basically what I want to do is to export the geometry to Geomagic or Hypermesh.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Export IGES or step file
Hi,
The export uses OpenCascade to convert the TexGen model into Iges and Step formats. Unfortunately this isn't always very stable. The 64-bit is more robust than the 32 so make sure you're using that if you can. Exporting as a faceted model is also more reliable that exporting a smooth model.
Other than that all I can suggest, if you still have problems, is that you send me the model you're trying to export and I'll run it in debug to make sure that the problem is with the OpenCascade rather than the TexGen code (if it's the latter then I should be able to do something about it).
Best regards,
Louise

Re: Export IGES or step file
Hi Mahe,
I have looked at your file. For some reason there seems to be an issue with generating a file with the smooth option. I suspect that this is to do with the large number of polygon sections specified in your model. It works if you specify a faceted file and also works with the join yarn sections option (this makes sure that only one item is generated for each yarn rather than joining two sections together where the repeat occurs). I created a Step file for all the yarns including the domain which then loaded into Abaqus fine. It's quite a big file so it takes a while to load but it gets there in the end.
Hope that helps,
Louise
