Hi ,
I m a researcher on textile and I m looking to get effective mechanical properties for different woven structure without matrix. I m also trying to simulate mechanical loading, within finite sliding framework, to Textile by using the dry fibre inp file obtained from Texgen such 3d orthogonal or layer to layer structures.
The problem appears when exporting from Texgen to Abaqus the inp file: surface contact are not well defined and the boundary surface used for periodicity are not defined in many example created and tested by myself.
Sometimes surface contacts are not created at all!
Should I do this manually?
If the textile is well defined as a Ctextile3Dwoven or CtextileLayertoLayer the exportation from abaqus should be well done? Or it depends on other parameters?
What is the easy way to define the textile as a Ctextile? Is that by creating a script python file like some scripts founded in Texgen files?
thanks

Re: Dry fibre
Hi,
If you look in the Contact Definitions section of the inp file you should be able to see if there is a warning. 3D weave classes (including orthogonal and layer-to-layer) will only produce contacts between upper and lower surfaces of yarns. If you want, for example, to create contacts between binder yarns and sides of warp and weft yarns you will need to add these manually.
If you create a textile using the CTextile class there will be no contacts output as these are generated from information in the weave classes.
Information on writing scripts using the TexGen API is given here: http://texgen.sourceforge.net/index.php/Scripting_Guide
Hope that helps,
Louise
