exporting errors

Post by yosra11 »

Hi Louise

I am trying to export a "3DWeave(Layer to Layer)" into Step or IGES formats, but I found after importing in Abaqus that there is some yarns have an invalid geometry, I return to the Texgen output I found this error "Unable to set binder positions, lowest binder position too low for number of weft yarns". Can you please guide me a little how to proceed to avoid exporting errors?

I use a 64-bit version and choosing the faceted option and also works with the join yarn sections option.

Thanks for your help

Hi,

I don't think that the error message and the export are related. The error message is issued when setting the positions of the binder yarn layers if you try to move them too far below the weft yarns. The dialog forces a valid selection so, if you've then created the textile, the binders should all be in the correct positions relative to the wefts.

I tried creating a Step file of a layer to layer textile with the faceted option and join yarns. It took some time to do it (about an hour) but created a valid step file in the end which looks fine in Abaqus. The geometry in your image looks more like that which would be created using the smooth option which is less reliable and does sometimes create invalid geometry. Could you check the options you have selected. If you still have problems could you send me the tg3 file for your model and I'll try and see what the problem is.

Hope that helps,
Louise

thanks Louise for your response

this is an image of the RVE of Layer to layer structure i want to export to abaqus, constructed only with weft and binder yarns, in fact i see that the middel yarns are the cause of the errors.
tell me please if this organisation of the yarns is correct?
