The interaction between the yarns and matrix (composite)
Hi, everybody,
I am newly on learning TexGen for modeling fabric composite materials and want to use abaqus to make simulation on their mechanical properties. Unfortunately, my English is very poor, so I hope you may pay more pacience. And I have exported to abaqus file in the way of voxel file.
when I want to define the surfaces of yarns and matrix, I find that it is imposibble to select the surface.Because it is easy to select the surfaces in the dry fabric file.I think the cubic element make the differences between these.Do you konw the better way to do this?
And which interaction should I define the surfaces between the yarns and matrix ?

Re: The interaction between the yarns and matrix (composite)
Hi,
If you want to predict mechanical properties use the method described here: http://texgen.sourceforge.net/index.php ... and_Abaqus
The surfaces aren't defined in the voxel .inp file.
Hope that helps,
Best regards,
Louise

Hi,Louise
Thank you for your reply! You point out the mechanical properties.Do you mean the mechanical properties of the whole composition?

Re: The interaction between the yarns and matrix (composite)
Hi Back,
Yes, this will give you the mechanical properties of the composite. There is the option to create a voxel mesh for just the fibres. In contrast to the dry fibre export, however, this doesn't specify contact surfaces.
Best regards,
Louise

Hi Louise,
Thank you for your reply!I have tried the method described here: http://texgen.sourceforge.net/index.php ... and_Abaqus.But When I run the Script in Abaqus.I found the problem below. This confused me very much.Would you please give me a hand?

Re: The interaction between the yarns and matrix (composite)
Hi Louise,
I have seen the contents of that (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5097) you gave to me.It seems that there are two steps to solve this problem.
First step is to correct the property of the yarn. But I can not find the right property(Would you mind giving me the right propery). So I just do some datas only to gain the qualified volume fraction (between 0 and 1).
Second step is to delete the Thermomechanical step.
But I can not solve the problem by now.The result is the same as the before.
I want to attach the .inp file. But its size exceed limit. You can download the whole files from
http://yun.baidu.com/share/link?shareid ... 2&third=15
if you can not download it, would you please giving me the accurate files you have finished befoe ? Here is my Email:1217062966@qq.com.
Thank You very much!

Re: The interaction between the yarns and matrix (composite)
Hi Back,
The first issue with the volume fraction probably doesn't apply to you. As long as you have set up the correct yarn properties your volume fractions should be fine.
I don't seem to be able to download a file from the link you sent and it is all in Chinese so I can't understand anything! Do you have a Dropbox account? Could you use that?
Best regards,
Louise

Hi Louise,
I am sorry for that I can not link the Dropbox.Because it is forbidden by China. So would you mind giving me your Email address? So I can send the files by this way.
Thank You very much!

Re: The interaction between the yarns and matrix (composite)
Hi Back,
I have run the files that you sent me and they work fine in Abaqus 6.14-1. The script runs and produces the mechanical properties. Could you try running it again, checking that you have your working directories etc set up properly as I can't see what the issue is with these files.
Sorry not to be more help,
Louise
