Non-orthogonal biaxial braid

Post by willsenwijaya »

Hello!

I am currently trying to create a bi-axial textile model. The technique that I need to use, require me to sweep the cross section at a particular angle relative to the yarn's center-line (not perpendicular to the yarn tangent). Can the latest version of TexGen do this angled cross section sweeping? If so, could somebody please send me an example script to do this? Thank you very much!

Hi,

You can either set the yarn angle from the GUI or in a script. In the GUI use the Modeller->Section option and then check the Rotate box to set the angle as described here: http://texgen.sourceforge.net/index.php ... s-Sections

The TriaxialBraid script here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/texgen ... l_Scripts/ shows an example of setting the rotation angle for a yarn section in a script. In this case the yarn section is specified at specific points along the yarn using CYarnSectionInterpPosition but they can also be the same for the entire yarn (using CYarnSectionConstant) or specified at the nodes (using CYarnSectionInterpNode).

If you're new to the forum it would be good if you could introduce yourself, let us know where you're from and what you're using TexGen for.

Hope that helps,
Louise

Hi Louise,

Thank you very much for your reply. My apology for the late reply as I haven't checked the forum for sometime now.
Sure, my name is Willsen, PhD candidate in mechanical engineering from the University of Auckland. I am using TexGen to generate biaxial textile models which I will then export to ABAQUS to perform textile compaction simulation. The compacted textile unit cell from ABAQUS simulation will then be used as an input to a commercial CFD package to predict the permeability of the compacted textile.
Thank you once again!
