UMAT for fabric compression.

Post by rpenidef »

Hello Louise,

I saw that a UMAT for Abaqus is provided following the Chamis model. However I am interested on the Yarn properties model developed on the paper: "Finite element modelling of fabric compression" (Hua Lin et al 2008 Modelling Simul. Sci. eng. 16 035010). I was wondering if the UMAT used on that paper is available, knowing if the UMAT is a regular one just adding the E33(eps33) function defined on the paper or if it has something else would work also (I want to replicate these results or the ones on the paper "Finite element compression modelling of 2x2 twill woven fabric textile composite" before moving forward with my modelling).

Thank you,

Sincerely,

Hi Rodrigo,

I'm afraid that the researcher who wrote this paper has left Nottingham and we don't have access to the UMAT. I think that if you can implement equations 8 and 10 in the paper in your UMAT then that would be fine. I would be interested to know how you get on.

Sorry not to be more help,
Louise
