Texgen and texgen 4cs

Post by Turan »

Hello,

I have seen a video on youtube that describes texgen software. There is an item on the left hand side of the software which is not in mine. Actually, it seems that the software in that video is texgen4sc. However, mine is just texgen. Please look at the attached.
If I am correct, then what should I do? How can I install 4sc? Is it by https://cdmhub.org/?

Would you please help me?

Thanks

Hi Turan,

TexGen4SC is an online version of TexGen hosted by CDMHub to which they've added a link to their Swiftcomp software which they've written for analytically calculating mechanical properties. You need to register on CDMHub to use this. I think that at the moment it may not use the most up-to-date version of TexGen so the most recent changes may not be available.

Hope that answers your question,
Louise

Thank you so much Louise,

Actually, I do not need the mechanical properties. Could I just use texgen and export to abaqus for further mdoelling? I think I could assign material (yarn and matrix properties) in texgen and import to abaqus, right?

I have one more question. Could I use texgen 4sc as a cloud version and run the homogenisation to have the properties and save just that properties file in my computer?
Also, my laptop is 64 bit however the texgen 64 bit does not work, but the 32 bit works!

Hi,

You can use the Abaqus export for whatever simulations you like. If you export with periodic boundary conditions it contains the equations and steps for prediction of mechanical properties as described here: http://texgen.sourceforge.net/index.php ... and_Abaqus

Otherwise the input file contains the nodes, elements and material properties (if you've set them up in TexGen) which you can use to set up your simulations.

If you're using a 32-bit version you must be using an older version of TexGen. There is an issue with the Python27 build of the new version which I'm still trying to identify. If you install Python27 from the Python website it should solve the problem. Otherwise the 64-bit Python26 build of version 3.10.0 seems to work on most systems.

Best wishes,
Louise
