Hi Dr. Louise ,
I have been using TexGen for quite sometime now. A big thanks to you and your team.
TeXGen currently generates a structured mesh. The mesh size is same for both yarn and matrix. As a result, the interface between matrix and yarn looks like a stair case steps. Is there a way to generate a conformal mesh of RVE in Texgen with different mesh size for yarn and matrix. I am enquiring about this because a conformal mesh is better for strength analysis of composite. I will be glad to have any of your leads on this.
Best Regards,
Hemanth T N

Re: Conformal Mesh of RVE
Hi Hemanth T N,
Sorry for the slow reply - I was on annual leave last week. (A stay-at-home holiday!)
You can create a conformal mesh using the File->Export->Volume Mesh or Tetgen Mesh options. The Volume mesh isn't suitable for 3D textiles as the algorithm creates misshaped elements on vertical or near vertical yarns. The Tetgen option is fairly robust but may need an artificial gap introducing between yarns.
Alternatively, the newest TexGen release includes code for octree refinement and Laplacian smoothing of voxel meshes. At the moment it has to be used from a Python script as described here http://texgen.sourceforge.net/index.php ... _Smoothing The next release (hopefully in the next few weeks) will include a user interface.
Hope that helps,
Louise

Re: Conformal Mesh of RVE
Hi Dr. Louise,
Thanks for the useful information. I will go with the volume mesh as my textile model does not have any vertical or near vertical yarns.
Best Regards,
Hemanth T N
