Flow simulation of 3d textile

Post by punkin »

Hi Dr. Louise and everyone
I am a new user of the TexGen, and my research topic is related to the prediction of permeability for 3D orthogonal textile. I have learned the TexGen tutorial for FEA http://texgen.sourceforge.net/workshop/ ... alysis.pdf. However, when I did the actual operation, I met the following problems:
1. When I edited mesh in CFX as it says on page 13, Should I choose a whole face or only a partial face of Primitive 2D (as shown in the picture)
Image
2. On page 15, when defining 2 sets of interfaces with translational periodicity, whether “the surfaces on both sides of interface” are the opposite regions that have been edited on page 13?
Can anybody help me? Appreciate your feedback.

Regards,
Punkin

Hi Punkin,

You need to select whole faces, pairs of which can then be selected as being periodic across the unit cell. The face on one edge of the unit cell has translational periodicity with the corresponding face on the opposite side.

Hope that helps,
Louise
