Hi,
I am using the python function in TexGen to create a Weave textile based on the tows' x,y,z path location and cross section.
Lately, I have come across an issue where the tows' surface created is not smooth and does not exactly follow path nodes.
You can see this in the picture attached, the tow's surface does not follow the path nodes. The side view of the path nodes is smooth whereas the side view of the surfaces is not ideal.
Does someone have an idea of why this happened?
Thanks

Re: Tows' surface does not match path nodes
Hi,
Is the side view that you show of the path nodes of the nodes or the yarn path? If it's the nodes, how many nodes are there? If there are enough to form a continuous path like this then my guess is that the interpolation is struggling. What interpolation are you using and how many slave nodes do you have? If the number of slave nodes is less than the number of nodes then the yarn path and surface may not conform to the nodes.
If you could send more details of how you generated the yarn then that would help to see what the problem might be.
Best regards,
Louise

Re: Tows' surface does not match path nodes
Hi,
The side view is of the nodes. I had 906 nodes in the yarn pictured there . However when I repeated the same process taking every 20th node (so had 45 nodes) the same problem occurred.
I used Bezier function to interpolate. With 900 Master Nodes, it created 20 Slave Nodes (obtained this number from reading the tg3 file). I suppose this is what caused the issue? Why are there so few slave nodes?
I have attached the python script that I used to generate the textile (along with the input txt files).
Let me know if this gives you more clues about what went wrong.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Tows' surface does not match path nodes
Hi,
Apologies for the slow reply - I was off work last week.
The default number of slave nodes in a yarn is 20. If you want a different number to this you need to either change the value in your tg3 file or in your script using the Yarn::SetResolution function (see here http://texgen.sourceforge.net/api/class ... _yarn.html).
Hope that helps,
Louise
PS. Is Ming still around? If so, please say "Hi" to him for me
