How to assign textile name on the GUI

Post by ebarbero »

Various .tg3 files must have different "textile names" to avoid surprises. The Wizard assigns a default name like "2DWeave(W:2,H:2)" and writes it in the .tg3 file. I found that if you assign yarn properties on a model (or load up this file NITKSunil_TEX.tg3 previously saved as "standard"), then load up another .tg3 file that had no yarn properties (NITKSunil.tg3 previously saved as "minimal"), unexpectedly the later model has the yarn properties from the former model. That is, loading the 2nd file did not reset the yarn properties to "unassigned" or "zero", apparently because the 2nd file was "minimal" and thus had no yarn properties, or because it had the same textile name "2DWeave(W:2,H:2)" or both. Changing the textile name among files solves the problem but the only way I found to change the textile name is editing the .tg3 file with notepad.

Hi,

You are right, because of the way that the textile name and data is mapped there is no way to change the name in the user interface. Are you sure that the second textile was actually loaded? If you look in the TexGen Output window you should normally see the following error message if you try to load a second textile with the same name: Unable to add textile, textile with that name already exists: The second textile is then not loaded.

Hope that helps,
Louise
