Yarn-to-yarn surface contact in Abaqus
Hi, I think this topic may have been discussed in this forum but could you please confirm if Texgen defines the contact surfaces for Abaqus. The reason I am asking this is because I can see contact definitions in the .inp file. Once you import the .inp file into Abaqus you will find an item called YARN in interaction properties. This item YARN contains contact properties options such as type of contact behaviour (Tangential or Normal), friction formulation (Penalty), friction type (Isotropic) and friction coefficient (0.112). However, when your solve a static linear perturbation or an explicit dynamic analysis the results shows that there are no contacts defined between yearns. The .inp file is attached in conjunction with a brief summary file 'Contact issues.pdf'. Thanks

Hi,
I can't see any attached files but just saw your query on GitHub and have taken a look at the file you posted there. TexGen creates surface definitions for the upper and lower surfaces of the yarns which are then used in the contact definitions. For some reason the surface definitions haven't been created in your file. In order for TexGen to create surfaces you must have repeats specified for the yarns and the domain must represent a whole number of repeats. If these conditions aren't met then the surfaces won't be generated. I would check these first.
Hope that helps,
Louise
