can not open TexGenGUI.exe after uninstall and install

Hello louisepb,

I have a trouble with opening TexGenGUI.exe on my working computer with a system of windows10.The things went on as follows:
1. I installed texgen-bundle-64bit-Python27-3.12.2.exe and operated as the notations. Finally I could open TexGenGUI.exe after I double clicked it and it popped up a GUI windows, which is of course the TexGen workshop window.
2. I uninstalled the texgen and installed texgen-bundle-64bit-Python27-3.8.2.exe. Finally I could not open TexGenGUI.exe after I double clicked it. I was confused.
3. I reuninstalled the texgen and installed texgen-bundle-64bit-Python27-3.12.2.exe. As what I had expected, it did not work either. Besides, I could run the scripts such as "from TexGen.Core import *" under ABAQUS6.14 environment as usual.So the only problem is that the TexGenGUI.exe can not work any more.

I have got no ideas about this confusing situation. Could you please tell me some possible solutions or any thoughts that I could try to fix the trouble.

I finally solve it. it is because I misinstall the texgen bundle at wrong directory.

I was been using texgen3.12.2 in windows11. However, I was about to change it to 3.13.0 to create prism domains. So I just ran uninstall.exe. It turned out that nothing happened. TexGenGUI.exe still exsisted. I cleared the whole folder and installed texgen-bundle-64bit-Python39-3.13.0.exe. The new version showed up but was not able to run. After that, I used control panel to remove it and examine whether there were still something relative left in my computer by Everthing.exe. So the current situation is that I could not delete TexGen via uninstall.exe (neither 3.12.2 nor 3.13.0) and no folder relavative remained except the installation folder which contains TexGenGUI.exe. Hope I have made it clear.

Hi Horkoon,
I'm afraid that I don't have access to a Windows 11 computer so haven't tested the installation/uninstall on that. It may be that the paths are not set up correctly for the uninstall to work on Windows 11. However, you should be able to just install a new version on top of an old one without uninstalling. If you try to reinstall texgen3.12.2 does that still work? Could you try that so that we can work out whether it's just the change from 3.12 to 3.13 which is the problem or if there's something else which is causing an issue.
