Load cases

Post by dyeyanie »

Hi Louise,

Referring to the paper of S.Li for the case of loading, I think I need some further explanation from you. If I'm referring to the input file, you had named the loading into 6 names (LOAD0-LOAD5). However, I'm not really clear to which load names are these loading cases are referring to as stated in S.Li paper.

Hi Yanie,

If you look at the load cases you will see that they use the ConstraintsDrivers 0-5. These are specified earlier as

*** ConstraintsDriver0 = e_x
*** ConstraintsDriver1 = e_y
*** ConstraintsDriver2 = e_z
*** ConstraintsDriver3 = e_xy
*** ConstraintsDriver4 = e_xz
*** ConstraintsDriver5 = e_yz

This should show you which load each load case refers to.

Hi Louise,

I explaining here regarding my quaetions on the other thread since I think here is the best way to explain.

I do some changes on load cases and boundary conditions of the input file where my intention now is to get a fixed end boundary condition and a load imposing at the other end (simple tensile loading). So I make changes on the particular parts;

***************************
*** BOUNDARY CONDITIONS ***

when I try to run them, i found there were 4 fatal error occured.

1. *Node
*Element, Type=C3D8R

***ERROR: BLANK LINE IN ELEMENT DATA OR ALL FIELDS GIVEN AS ZERO
LINE IMAGE:

2. ***ERROR: A CONCENTRATED LOAD HAS BEEN SPECIFIED ON NODE 0. THIS NODE IS NOT
ACTIVE IN THE MODEL

***ERROR: A CONCENTRATED LOAD HAS BEEN SPECIFIED ON NODE 0. THIS NODE IS NOT
ACTIVE IN THE MODEL
*End Step

3. ***ERROR: Concentrated load is specified on 1 nodes that are not active. Check
loading definitions in the model. The nodes may have been deleted
because they were not connected to any elements.

Actually I made the changes once I imported the inp files into abaqus cae.. so from there I generate a new loading conditions as well as the boundary but I don't run them in cae because I'm afraid of incorrect running on periodic boundary condition in the fiber. So, i ran them in command line. I don't know why I got this error. Do it comment them wrongly?

Hi Yanie,

I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help here. Has going to CAE and back introduced something in the element section? I would google the error message to see if you can find out what the problem is.

There is no Node 0 in the model so something you have added must be trying to address this giving the other errors.

As I've said before, I'm not actually an Abaqus user as such so I'm really of limited help once you start changing the TexGen output. I don't know if there's an Abaqus forum which would be able to help more?

Best regards,

Hi Yanie,

The Node 0 problem would be caused by a blank line after the data line. I think abaqus will continue read the blank line as a data line and assume a 'Node 0'.

It would be great if TexGen can make all blank lines to start with **. Is it also normal that I kept get Constrains0 and Constrain0? Had to change it manually each time :(

Hope this helps

Hi Shuo,

The constraint/constraints is a bug which I've now fixed and will be included in the next release which I'll probably do early in the new year some time ( but am now on holiday until 2nd January ).

Best regards,

Hi,

Thanks Shuo. I just delete the space (blank line) in between the command. Perhaps it may be the alternatives.

Is that definition of the constraint drivers you mentioned above really used in ABAQUS: *** ConstraintDriver0=e_x

I was just wondering why all constraintdrivers used in the equations are applied in x-direction (direction 1).
